My First Trike July 18, 2017 08:20

My Little Trike

While sifting through hundreds of photos to locate some of my school photos I came across many other old photos, mind you I found very few of my school ones! For my DT Project today I have used My First Trike 2014. I saw this file featured a while ago here and had to buy it. Then I found this that I did in my digital photo phase, it suits this file perfectly. It is our eldest granddaughter, Healey, I just had to add one of myself as a little one in the corner ... lol.

Magical July 03, 2017 17:22

Good morning to all. For my DT project I have used just one file from Grams and Gramps 2013, this is available in The Vault, one of my favourite places to visit. As we have 3 granddaughters I flipped one little girl and made her slightly smaller. It features our 3 granddaughters Healey, Miss Nelly and Quinn, at various ages, photos that I love.

Rainy day Babies by ScrappyDew

Apologies for my late DT Project but we have been holidaying in warmer weather and playing with crocodiles, then home to house guests for a special birthday celebration! I have used the ducks from Rainy Babies on this page, but this kit has many other wonderful files to use and is a fabulous addition to my many other files. The photo is of our eldest granddaughter Healey in 2009.

It's Graduation Season June 10, 2017 19:34

Hello everyone!  I have a graduation card for your inspiration.  I've gotta tell ya, working with tiny little feathers is not easy.  I wanted a wise old owl on the front.  So I dug out my feather collection.  I found a package of Guinea fowl feathers.  I liked the colors and they were not to big to work with.  Boy was I in for a mess.  I'll finish the story in a minute.  But first lets do the colors:

~From the ScrappDew Vault:
     Grad Hoot PNG
     Owl 2015

~Guinea Fowl Feathers
~TPC Class Act Tassel Toss paper by Colorbok
~Graduation stickers from Walmart
~KNK Zing Electronic Die cutting machine
~Make the Cut Software
~Scissors, quilting ruler, glue stick, needle nosed tweezers and other stuff.

OK now back to the story.  I gave my kitty Emmie a feather to play with while I glued them on the wise old owl I was making.  The next thing I see is Emmie jumping onto the work bench.  The feathers went flying everywhere.  Oh well, the  vacuum cleaner will pick them up in the morning.

So here is the completed graduation card.
Here is the wise old owl.  I just happened to have paper with motar boards.

Here is the inside

And finally the back cover.
It's turned out OK.  I will have to re-visit using feathers sometime in the future.  So that's it for this week.  I have to design a birthday card for a dear friend so maybe that will be the project for next week.
Hope to have you visit again very soon.

Bright Blessings for a fabulous week ahead, ~Jana - DT

My First Trike June 06, 2017 11:48

I remember my first bike, but not my trike. Therefore I decided to scrapbook my son's for his memories for years to come.
Tricycle, My First Trike
When I found the 'My First Trike' file from Scrappy Dew, I was excited that I didn't have to piece different files together to make what I needed!
I always do double 12 x 12 layouts so they all match.

I probably stick to that forum more so because I take a lot of pictures...just don't tell the husband I agree with him!

The title for my layouts always go on the first page and caption on the second page.

I know people say cursive is a dead form of reading. I really hope that doesn't become the case, otherwise no one will know how to read the captions in his scrapbook!!!

This little boy is just the cutest!

Welcome! May 27, 2017 11:10

I'm back

Hello everyone.  I think that I have figured out how to manage my time.  If you haven't heard I am working as office manager for our machine shop.  Owning your own business has it's perks.  One of those being that I can craft when I want to; but really only when I get the office stuff done.

So this week I have a couple of new baby cards.   Would you believe that the new little ones were born 24 hours apart?  Both are little boys and perfect in every way!  Let's see what colors I have used this week.

~I used Baby Monkeys from Scrappy Dew (I can not find this file)
~Bits and pieces of various papers
~Zenith KNK Zing electronic cutter
~Make the cut software
~All the usual stuff

So here is my projects:

The envelopes, the paper says it's a boy.

For Baby Corrick and Baby Derek

Inside for Corrick

Inside for Derek
These were a lot of fun to make.  I think that the center step card really sets these cards off.  Now next week I will have another project.  It's graduation time, so that is probably what I will focus on.
Have your best week ever, bright blessings, Jana

Chalk the Walk May 23, 2017 12:05

Two things I know for sure. Kids LOVE sidewalk chalk and bubbles! For this layout, I went with a more clean, crisp layout to focus more on the photos rather than crowding it with decor which is naturally kind of my style.

This 'Chalk the Walk' file from ScrappyDew was PERFECT for this layout!
Sidewalk Chalk
After I selected the files and photos I wanted, I decided that the 'Lively Geos' stack from DCWV would work great for these photos. I tend to select the background colors based off of what the child is wearing in the photo.
Gotta stick the tongue out to focus!
Every 12 x 12 layout that I do must be a matching set. Which is probably why I have so many albums!
Each layout I do has to have a caption with specific dates and ages because I never know how old I am in any childhood photos I find so I make sure to state this for my children when they are older!

Materials Used:
DCWV 'Lively Geos' stack
Scrappy Dew 'Chalk the Walk' file
Silhouette Cameo 3
Silhouette Studio Designer Edition
Scotch ATG gun
Aleene's Original Tacky Glue
AC Elements brads

Bonnets May 16, 2017 04:59

Bonnets

For my DT project today I have used the file Bonnets 2013. I saw that my sister had this file, thought it was lovely, and I just had to have it. I loved making the 3 cards that I am showing you and there are 3 more to do. This file is simply gorgeous! ~ DT Karen

Easter Pages May 01, 2017 17:06

Easter

I decided to join all 3 Easter pages together for my DT project because Easter is well and truly gone. I used Easter Hoots 2013 and Mojo 493 for Miss Nelly as she really is a hoot. Healey is featured with Easter Bunny 2012 from the Vault with Mojo 448. Our youngest granddaughter Quinn is sitting above the tree from Eggspert Hunters 2014. Love visiting the Vault, so much value and so many gorgeous projects to make.

All aboard the Parenthood express April 25, 2017 14:56

It's been a little over four and a half years since we tied up our journey to parenthood. But that doesn't mean we can't celebrate others journeys into the wonderful job of parenting!

For this baby shower card, I used two Scrappy Dew files.

I started with the whale from the 'Little Squirt' file.
Then I decided he needed some friends from the 'Snorkeling' file.

Just to have something that moves, I added a pull tab so the whale moves back and forth.

I wanted there to be depth in the card. So I added all these little creatures onto a step card.

I felt the fishing boat was best named PARENTHOOD

On the inside, I added the 'Lil Squirt' baby with an anchor!

Giraffe Earnings April 18, 2017 11:33

My 70 something year old sister has gone bonkers over the birth of the giraffe at Animal Adventure Park. So I made her these little earrings out of the freebie.  Thank you ScrappyDew! ~Mary - DT

On the Hunt April 11, 2017 16:50

It's hard to believe Easter is almost here! Even harder to believe that we still have experienced snow falls in these parts of the USA. Let's hope that the kids can be able to get out and go on the hunt for eggs without snow on Sunday!
Easter Egg Hunters
For this bendy card, I used ScrappyDew's 'Easter Egg Hunters' file.
The little boy and girl that come with this set are just adorable!
The only thing I added to this file was the tulips.

There is a new DIVA in town! April 01, 2017 20:46

Mrs. Scrappy Dew has done it again.  She has designed a new file called DIVA 2017.  Thank you Chrystal!  I look forward to a new DIVA file every couple of years.  DT ~ Jana is very happy!

Hey there my crafty crew!  Had a wonderful time with the girls shopping last week.  I found a lot of new clothes that are for work.  Work?  Yes, I have returned to the work force.  Not just because it is our machine shop, doesn't mean that it's not real work.  I get filthy but also I have no boss.  So the best of both worlds.  I can also craft at work if I want, Yippe!

So this week it's all about being a DIVA.  Let's see the colors for this weeks creation.

~ Recollections Scraps
~ Big and small printed scraps
~ Micron 01 Black Pen
~ White Sakura Gel Pen
~ Pastel Chalks
~ Pebbles basic chalks
~ Font = Chasing Hearts
~ KNK Zing electronic cutter
~ Make The Cut Software
~ Chocolate candy and Mocha Freeze mix from Costco
Well since this blog is all about being happy and bright colors I hope that you like this weeks new happy thoughts.  It changes each post, (did you notice?)

So here is my creation with the ScrappyDew Diva File 2017!!!  Happy happy joy joy!!!

All the pieces of view #3 are cut out with some extras

The front of the card

Oh, what's this?  The card is opening. I made a hinge that doesn't show up in the pics.  So the front opens and this is the inside.

Here is the inside, I will write a note on the left.So that is what I created using this fabulous new file from the dear to my heart, ScrappyDew!  Now next week is my little neighbor boys 4th birthday.  So I am making a Batman card for him.  I found some giant books for him while shopping.  I'll show you everything next week.

Bright blessings for the best week ever, Bright Blessings, Jana~DT

Speedy Recovery and Get Well March 28, 2017 15:28

Let's talk about crafting supplies for a second! It is no secret that DCWV inc. is one of my favorite manufacturer's of paper. No scratch that, they are my favorite! I would say 90% of the paper I own is from DCWV. So when I found out they were coming out with a new line of stacks AND double sided at that, I had to run to Joann's and buy me some!
I find that the double sided stacks saves on paper waste and I am able to get coordinating projects out of fewer sheets as well.  This set of cards for example is from oh about 6 sheets of paper. When normally it would take double that.
And today's files are from Scrappy Dew's Medical Palz set
Medical Palz
I like to cut everything out on the mat to help keep me more organized when I am doing multiple files at once.
 Details, details, details.
A simple dot of ink on the end of a q-tip can bring a face alive.

 Highlights
Craftwell's eBrush is one of my favorite tools to use. Currently it is down for the count unfortunately, and I do miss that little glorious machine.
Add in some glue (I use Aleene's Original tacky glue), tape (Scotch ATG gun or Teresa Collins Mega Runner), and a card base and we have a set of cards!

Thank you for viewing what it takes to make a card!

I never knew what bravery was... March 15, 2017 15:12 1 Comment

We all are affected by cancer in one shape or form. Whether it is a family member, a friend, a friend of a friend, or a personal journey. I was honored when a good friend of mine requested a castle card for one of her friends.

After finding out a bit about what he is facing, I immediately thought one of Lori Whitlock's 'Center Box Card' from the Silhouette Design Store was perfect for this project. However, I couldn't find a castle one. So I set out to design my own.

Can you text me now? March 04, 2017 19:51

Can you text me now?

Hello my crafty friends.  I'm back with a birthday card for my special friend, Gunnar.  If you don''t know, Gunnar is Michelle's son.  I have been sending cards and various items to him since he started middle school.  He graduates next year.  So a few years have passed.  I always try to make him a card that has a special message or hidden object search each year.  Here is what I came up with for this years card.  But of course, here are the colors for this week.

 ScrappyDew Teen Palz cutting file

Recollections Scraps

My amazing 24" Silver Bullet electronic cutter

Sure Cuts A Lot V4.059

Pebbles Chalk

Micron Pens

Prismacolor Pencils

Black contact paper

1/4" round head brads painted black

Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers

So for this card I wanted to make a card with a likeness of Gunnar.  His cards started out as 'cutesy'.  But he's all grown up now.  He has a cell phone so the Teen Palz from ScrappyDew was a perfect file for this year.  I couldn't find any black brads to make it open, so took yellow brads and colored them black.  Other than that the card is pretty easy.  Here is this years edition.

Here is the front of the card. Now mom may have to help but here is the message that I have included Here is how the numbers and letters came together.  The letters are 1/8 of an inch tall.  Now that is some fancy cutting from my Silver Bullet. I sure hope that he likes this years edition.  It was really fun to make.  I did have to use a telephone to correctly place the letters.

Now for next week, I will have a return of a character I created a couple of years ago.  Super Crafty Lady is coming back.

Have you best week ever!  Bright blessings,

~Jana~

You Make Me Happy When Skies Are Grey February 28, 2017 12:48

Scrapbooking is one of my favorite past times. Probably because I don't have a lot of past time to do it! But when I get the chance, I love it.
In fact, my time is limited with scrapbooking so much that when my son saw this layout, he asked "who's that kid". He was 3 in these photos (he's now 8) that's how far behind I am!
Once I had the layout challenge in front of me from DCWV's February stack-a-holic sketch, I decided to start on the borders first. I didn't want just a long strand of one colored/texture clouds so I mixed and matched a few clouds and welded them together.
Then I grabbed my Xyron sticker maker to help get some stick to the back of the thin lined clouds. I use my sticker maker for smaller jobs like this that I don't want to get glue all over.

It's as easy as popping the paper piece in one side and pulling it out the other!
***Sugar Tip*** flip the running tape over and press the items down really well with a scraper tool. This allows for excess tackiness to adhere to the clear vellum when pulled off and not onto your project! Less clean up.
When I found this ever so cute 'Puddle Jumpers' file from Scrappy Dew, it was a must have for these photos.
I wanted to bring some highlights to the little boy and his rain gear. To do this, I grabbed my handy eBrush and sharpie markers.

I highlighted these cuts upside down simple for accessibility. It doesn't matter when working with the eBrush if you have your pieces this way or that.
Next I cut all the pieces out on the same mat, ready to assemble.
When my son was younger, I used to sing this song to him all the time. He is a little ray of sunshine! The title just came natural.
I had to add a snail because well snips and snails...
Journalism with scrapbooking tells a story that can be retold in years to come.
One thing I do with my scrapbooks is they have to be a double layout. I am a very matchy match OCD scrapbooker. I need the paper to match the subject and both pages need to match. Which is why I LOVE this new stack from DCWV. Not only is it double sided, but it matches so well to bring some brightness in on a cloudy day.
Why? Probably because I take too many photos, shhhh the husband is NOT correct on that subject.

Materials Used:

Scrappy Dew 'Puddle Jumpers' file
Puddle Jumpers
DCWV Joie De Vivre double sided stack

Easter Inspiration February 26, 2017 07:20

I have two little ones in the neighborhood that I like to spoil on holidays.  Usually it is a treat bag with goodies inside (the parents usually get some also).  This year I have a boy and a girl to make for.  We have one more little boy, but he is not arriving until Memorial Day.  I have made Easter tags for their goodie bags.  So here are the colors for this week:

~Boy and Girl Bunny 2015
~Recollections paper scraps
~KNK Zing electronic cutter
~Make The Cut Software
~Cracked Egg File from the MTC Gallery
~Lattice Egg File from the MTC Gallery
~Color Bok Mirrored Paper
~Very, very old Easter Greeting Stamp
~Pebbles Classic Chalk
~The usual tools that are too long to list

So first, I made the bunnies.  (i have to say, i miss figuring out how to put files together.  so be ready for lots more) Next came the egg and the lattice egg frame.  Nothing unusual came up.  Just a darned good file provided by ScrappyDew.  (did you know that their files come in a variety of formats?)  So lets take a look at what I came up with for Easter 2017.

The treat bags are a carrot and a chick.

Here is a closer look.

The little girls.

The little boys.

I hope that this post gives you some ideas.  Holidays are to stressful.  So do something that you love and enjoy friends and family.  Have a great FAT Tuesday next week.  See you back here next Saturday.
Have your best week ever!  Bright Blessings,
~Jana~

Be Joyful! February 20, 2017 17:15

Hello again here I am with my DT projects. I decided that as Christmas is well and truly over that I should put up 2 at the same time. The first page is our 2nd granddaughter Miss Nelly. I have used Mojo Monday 461 and the HoHoHo from Mr and Mrs HoHo 2014. It really only needed something small and this fitted perfectly. Thanks to my husband Mal for the photo and my sister Diane for adding the bits of bling to make it look so magical.

Granny as Santa February 20, 2017 17:03

Santa Coming to Town by ScrappyDew.com
My 2nd DT page is of our youngest granddaughter Quinn. She wasn't the least bit afraid of her Granny as Santa. On this page I used Mojo Monday 469 and Christmas Special 2012, Santa's Coming to Town. I love all the Christmas kits and could spend my entire time doing Christmas projects.

You're the tic tac to my toe February 14, 2017 12:45

You're the tic tac to my toe

Whenever my husband and I go to a restaurant and they have the tic-tac-toe section on a child's menu, we play. Now he has a very low success rate of winning, which gave me the idea to make this little valentines set using Scrappy Dew's Tic Tac Toe file. What better way to rub salt in his wounds?!
What better way to rub salt in his wounds then a challenge game and candy?!
I made little playing cards using the print and cut feature with Silhouette Studio's Designers Edition software
Inside of the little bag is a box of candied hearts to use as placings on the play cards.
The base of the card is a file I created a bit ago (Stage Card base). The stage was a perfect place to use the little boy and girl to pop up with a playing field. To place the playing pieces on the small pop up playing field, I used my Xyron sticker maker instead of using messy glue.

Materials Used:

DCWV 'Whimsical World' stack
Scrappy Dew 'Tic Tac Toe'
Tic Tac Toe
Xyron Sticker Maker
Aleene's Original Tacky Glue
Teresa Collins Mega Runner
Silhouette Cameo 3
Silhouette Studio Designer Edition

I have been so excited doing my DT projects with my Christmas photos, I was thrilled to bits with them all. The first one is our eldest granddaughter Healey with her Granny Santa. Thanks to my husband Mal for the photo and my sister Diane for adding the extra effects to make it look fabulous. I used Mojo Monday 481 for the background and Believe in the Magic (girl) 2014 for the graphics.

Missing Birthday Card November 12, 2016 14:56

The day before Halloween is my neighbor Cassie's birthday.  I knew she and her husband Chad would be trick or treating with their son.  I got the card done and then was completely shocked by their news.  Seems that we are going to have another addition to their family.  So I never got the card delivered.  Guess what I found under the couch...Cassie's birthday card.  I sheepishly carried it over.  But what I did not do is share it with my creative friends.

Welcome back to my blog!  So happy that you could stop by.  Let's list the lyrics...

~ScrappyDew Birthday Clowns 2015
~ScrappyDew 2010 Farm Package
     Clucks Chicken
~Diane J. Hook Papers

So here is the birthday card that I forgot.  Hope this gives you some ideas.
